Why China can't give freedom to Tibet??

China views Tibet as Chinese territory. If they were to be leniant other regions that wants autonomy might become vocal and even gain support in the West. China does not want that to happen. There can only be ONE China. They have opened up firendly relations with Taiwan, but they still don't recognize Taiwan as an independant nation.
