Is there any link between the collapse of the Soviet Union and the World Financial Crisis? ?

The expected ripple effect that collapse of the Soviet Union was dissmissed, shuffled under the carlpet by the world economy. It was ignored even though it created a huge stress on the world economy and open new loopholes and new expansions.
