Anti-reflective coating making Eye Gles look dirty.?

For awhile my gles would look real dirty no matter how much I cleaned them. So I went to the place where I bought my gles and they said the Anti-reflective coating in my gles is breaking down causing it to be dirty and that they basically cant do nothing about it. Has anyone experience this problem before?
