How do you read drumline cadence sheet music?

I'm starting to get very serious with marching band and I would like to play in college. I play snare, and I've been looking at some college cadences and stuff. They are WAY different than my high school ones. Basically, what are all the notes and stuff, like the X's and diamond shapes, and little squigly lines. I know how to read sheet music, just not like this. Please Help!!!
