How much does the YMCA cost?

I recently signed up with the YMCA (did not sign contract yet), and they determined my monthly fee to be $25. I am confused, as a disabled war vet and current college student barely breaking even on income, I get a rate higher than some deadbeat with no job living off welfare. What's the deal here? Why is the YMCA so bias toward our veterans?
